Description
The 12e Régiment blindé du Canada was founded on March 24, 1871 under the name of Three Rivers Provisional Battalion of Infantry. However, one has to go back to the 17th century to find the beginnings of a military presence in Trois-Rivières, with the creation of a Canadian Colonial Militia. Its recruiting structures will continue to be used under British rule and throughout the 19th century. Today, the Regiment is heir to that history.
During the First World War, several members of the Regiment were enlisted in the 178th French Canadian Battalion and fought in France. Throughout the Second World War, the Regiment, which had become an armoured units, received numerous honors. On May 6, 1968, a second Regular Force unit was formed under the same name in Valcartier. Since then, the two units have coexisted, standing out on numerous occasions in national and international operations.
True to its motto, ADSUM, the 12e Régiment blindé du Canada is more present than ever. This book is an opportunity to relive its unique history and to remember its exploits.
