Book Project

THE HISTORY BOOK

The 12e RBC history book will feature 350 pages of text, images and illustrations, with high a quality hardcover. It is a manuscript written by a team of five authors, some of whom are veterans of the Regiment. From the birth of the colonial militia in 1651 under the French regime to the creation of the Trois-Rivières Battalion in 1871 to the most recent missions, the book will captivate with its authenticity and the commitment of its authors to deliver an accurate account of the key periods in the history of the Regiment. The book focuses on the military legacy of the town of Trois-Rivières, which was the birthplace of the colonial militia, and shows how the regiment evolved from an infantry battalion to an armoured regular force regiment still active today. Septentrion publishing house in Quebec City has partnered with us for the production of the book.

HERITAGE COMPONENT

The book focuses on the military heritage of the city of Trois-Rivières, which was the birthplace of the colonial militia and shows how the regiment evolved from an infantry battalion to its origins to become the only French-language Regular Force armoured regiment still active today.

EDUCATIONAL COMPONENT

The book is also of an educational nature for school-aged children with the aim of telling the military history of Trois-Rivières in schools and museums. This book could also be used as part of Canada Company’s “Je me souviens” project, which seeks to provide educational tools for teaching military history in high schools.
