The chapters

This book is divided into six historically driven chapters.

Relive in Chapter 1 a summary of the French Regime where the first organized soldiers formed the cradle of the colonial militia with Pierre Boucher, Governor of Trois-Rivières.

Revisit Chapter 2 of the British Regime as parish companies fought in the War of 1812 whose Regiment perpetuates regional units from the era and the circumstances that led to the founding of Canada and a Canadian militia.

In Chapter 3 you will recall the beginnings of the Regiment with the creation of the 86th Infantry Battalion at Trois-Rivières. Despite the difficulties of the Department of Defense at the start of the First World War, recruiting units were created and the Regiment had the honor of perpetuating two of them. The interwar period sees the unit transform into an armoured regiment ready for the Second World War which is discussed in chapter 4 where you will have to redo the movements of the Regiment from England to North West Europe in passing through Sicily where the honors of battles will resonate at the cost of great sacrifices.

Chapter 5 brings the soldiers of the Regiment back to Canada and you will be surprised by the actions of our predecessors in Mauricie until the creation of the regular component of the unit in Valcartier. Going through the October 1970 crisis from the point of view of the 12e RBC and through the 1970s with the first deployments under the aegis of the UN until the Oka crisis where few know that the 12e were present, you will be able to place yourself at the origin of the Canadian Armed Forces as we know them today.

The book ends with the contemporary period in chapter 6 which sees the arrival of NATO missions (Bosnia, Afghanistan, and others), a panoply of new vehicles which follow one another over the decades and men and women ready and ready to meet the challenges of domestic operations both during floods and during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The common thread of the book is without a doubt the tasks, missions and exploits of our predecessors. You will be taken to historical sidelines about our period weapons and equipment as well as lesser-known historical facts that deserve to be recorded in this book for posterity.
